Volunteer Spotlight: Cristina Jaramillo

Meet Cristina Jaramillo. She is one of the therapists who has graciously volunteered her time to embark on this journey to Sibiu. Cristina is a pediatric physical therapist who currently practices in Jacksonville, Florida. She treats children in the outpatient setting at Brooks Rehabilitation, as well as special needs children at Fletcher's PPEC. Cristina attended physical therapy school in her South American home country of Columbia and has been treating children with disabilities since 1998. She has a passion for treating the pediatric population which eventually led her to continuing her education and completing her Neuromuscular Re-education Treatment (NDT) Certification in 2005. Cristina specializes in treating children with developmental delays, gross motor delays, balance deficits, orthopedic and neurological impairments. She is dedicated to working with special needs children and educating their families and caregivers. Cristina has always wanted to be involved in a medical missions opportunity in order to put her skills, knowledge, and training towards helping others abroad. Until now, she has not had the opportunity to do so due to her work schedule and raising her children. Now that her kids are older, she is now able to fulfill one of her professional goals of being a member of a medical missions team. Cristina will now be able to put her skills and years of experience to use in training the workers at Fundatia Heart of Hope to improve the quality of life of the Romanian children.
